Getting Involved

Getting involved can mean a variety of things. It can be anything from simple community service or a huge environmental project with friends. Our Girl Scout troop has done a variety of things to get involved. One thing that we just finished with was a project called “All Around Town”. In this project, we went to all four of Long Beach’s major parks and helped to beautify our parks to the new accommodations of Jeff Davis since Hurricane Katrina. This project had a huge turn out on our part and we are determine to keep it beautiful. Another project we did was making a cookbook. To do this the girls in our troop dug up family recipes and made little cards to go into our cookbook. After creating the cookbook, we sold these books to the general public. All of the proceeds went to the food pantry, so that they could supply the high demand of hungry people.
Even though these projects might seem too big to conquer, with a little help from friends you can do anything you set your mind to. Any project you think of big or small can help change the world in one way or another. Just think of something you’re interested in and get others involved.
