10 Safety Tips for Social Networks

·      Do not be friends with someone you do not know.  The person could be a person who wants to harm you.
·      Do not let friends get on you name on a social network or let them know your login or password.  It’s a good I idea to let your parents know your password and what you are doing, after all it’s their job to help keep you safe.
·      Be a good friend, and do not post negative comments or pictures.  Ask for permission before you tag another person in a picture.
·      A mutual friend is not a friend if you do not know them.  Don’t get caught up in a race to get lots of friends.
·      Keep your personal information to yourself.  Never post personal identification information or credit card information.  Do not post others personal information either.
·      Do not post information you are not comfortable with other people seeing.
·      Remember that once you post something on the Internet it is always there.  Even if you delete it.
·      Before you post a video or a photo, ask yourself if your mamma would have this on the refrigerator in the kitchen.  If not then why would you post it.
·       REMEMBER: You have control over what information you let people see.
·      MOST IMPORTANT: If you feel you are being harmed or threatened online tell a trusted adult or parent about it.  They can help.
